Whilst watching the TV coverage of Chelsea this evening- I was saddened to hear from Alan Titchmarsh- that Monty Don has decided to step down from Presenting Gardeners World. As Joe Swift reminded us- tho- he has been unwell. I wish him well and have very fond memories of his gardening methods. We have a wonderful compost method- a mini adaptation of the one Monty uses at Berryfields. I also have Cardoons- which I would never have had without seeing Monty with them- again at Berryfields. My fondest memory is meeting & talking with him at the Plant Swap a few years back at the Gardeners World live Exhibition at the NEC. Thank you Monty , wishing you well, you will be missed. Brightest Blessings.

Just before it was announced Kim came bounding downstairs to tell me he’d seen it on the BBC website – apparently Monty had a mild stroke. I really liked his style and the way he did the programme, so i will miss him too.
I wonder who will take over? Will they let Carol Klein? She certainly is jolly, knowledgeable and has been a capable pair of hands in the intervening weeks. That’ll be an interesting one…
Get well soon Monty!
I had thought that too, it would be great to have a lady heading the programme- but Noel said- its always been a man- he thought some one like Cleve West or may be some one more controversial like Diarmuid Gavin. Who know’s what the BBC will do? Poor Monty he has been in the wars- cancer- appendicitus- stroke, I really do wish him well and for a speedy recovery.
I love this man. He wrote a manifesto called ‘The Jewel Garden’ about combatting depression with the power of growing and nurturing plants. He’s also done a lot of work local to me (he lives not far away) with deprived children, on similar lines.
I wish him all the very best; why is it always the good ones who seem to have these tribulations?
I wish Monty well and a full recovery. He has always struck me a genuine person, a lovely guy. I do wish him well.
