Brigid’s Fire- is a wonderful new pagan magazine for people living in Ireland and beyond. The launch was held on 16th Jan 2010 in Ennis, County Clare. It is written for the Irish Pagan community to give a voice to the  pagan people actually living in Ireland.

The launch was well attended and very much enjoyed. The guest speaker was Ray Sweeney, National Coordinator of Pagan Federation Ireland. His speech was thought provoking and calls to action, not just sitting in the back ground. He  has been duly registered on the Register of Solemnisers, so it is now possible to be legally married in a Pagan ceremony in Ireland. In his own special way Ray shared the story. It took 5 years and multiple phone calls and stubborn strength to battle with councils and politicians, but in the end they gave in and granted him the status of Solemnizer.

The Magazine Editors are Daithi O’Laoidhigh ( David), Harmonia Saille and Isabelle O’Cuinneagain. The first edition feature articles- obviously include ” The Goddess Brigit” & “Brigid in the 21st Century” amongst others and there will be regular features including- Herbcraft, Moots & Gatherings, Sabbats & Esbats, Poets Corner, Artists Corner and an article from an Expat Witch. There is also a practical piece written by Harmonia Saille- Hedge Witch Series, part 1 being- Hedge Riding.
Brigid’s Fire is a quarterly magazine and the first edition has been launched in a timely fashion for Imbolc. For information on subscription or article’s, here is the website  http://brigidsfiremagazine.com/ it is in a temporary state at the moment- but you can contact the Editors from there.

2008 Blog Wrap Up.

Well- where to begin-As 2008 fades away and we are now into new beginnings- new year 2009- clean slate and all that. I have to take stock- re-evaluate- and adapt. My wonderful partner- to whom I became handfasted with in February this year- Has been literally thrown on the scrap heap at the young age of 52! He has become permanently disabled and so my priorities have had to change.  I need more time – on my days off work- to care & look after himself & my family- so computer time must be cut ( I am an addict) to the computer that is!!!. I am so grateful for all the fellow bloggers I have met and wish everyone the very best for 2009.  Just to say- I will be leaving my blogpage- and concentrating on homelife- due to the changing circumstances. I will still be popping into whitewicca.com. Hope to keep intouch- one way or another. Much love & light.Brightest Blessings.

Our Special Day

ready-for-a-feast.jpgMy wonderful soulmate and very best friend of 9 years and I were Handfasted on 29th Feb this year ( He shouldn’t have difficulty remembering this anniversary). A quiet, private affair- held at a very special place, outdoors in an ancient forest in the depths of the Irish countryside. I crafted our Handfasting cord with 3 seperate coloured ribbons, one to represent each of us & one for love & life. I also crafted a silver box with our initials on, for a lock of hair from each other to bury at the centre of the circle. During the ceremony, we said our vows and we buried the silver box. The weather was wild but the excitement and energy present was electrifying. We had a brief window of opportunity with a break in the clouds and we managed to take a few pictures. Then it was back home for a feast of Roast Goose and to celebrate with the rest of the family. We also planted two Camelia’s in our Garden as a reminder of our evergreen & growing love. It is hard to describe how I felt & am still feeling after our ceremony- like an inner glow of warmth and a silly smile in my face. Pure Bliss. Brightest Blessings.
